mignolo arts center is a state of the art ADA-approved rehearsal studio, gallery, and black box performance space in Metuchen, NJ. With a wide open floor plan and flexible capabilities, it is an ideal place for dancers as well as theater companies, musicians, and visual artists.

We are located a 7-minute walk from Metuchen Train Station, and the Northeast Corridor which runs between Trenton and New York Penn Station stops regularly in Metuchen. Due to our zoning regulations, there is NO PARKING at our arts center and violators will be towed at the owner's expense. However, there are 500+ parking spaces within a 5-minute walk!

*mignolo arts center is an ADA accessible facility with one handicap space.

Each available hour will appear as its own appointment below. You must book A MINIMUM OF TWO CONSECUTIVE HOURS AT A TIME
and you can do so by clicking “select and add another time.”

resident membership program

Space to create, explore, and rehearse. All artistic endeavors welcome. Make what you wish existed!

Membership Details:

  • Rate: $480/3 months = $30/hour

  • Membership includes 16 hours of studio time to be used within 3 months

  • Each resident will purchase their three month block in advance

  • Option for additional studio hours at reduced rate of $30/hour

  • Book other types of rentals such as events or workshops for 15% off

  • Residents will be required to fill out a liability waiver and have all participating artists do the same

Additional Information:

  • Shoes are not permitted in the studio.

  • Cancellations and carry over of time not used is not permitted.

  • A digital door code will be sent to you on days you have registered to use the space.

  • Please leave the space as you found it. If you need to move anything during your stay, please put it back.

  • The studio can be used from 7AM-10PM and can be booked directly through our website. Space is first come first served, so please plan ahead!

  • There is no parking at the studio other than drop off and pick up of materials. There is also one accessible parking space for people with accessibility needs.

co-production series

Calling all choreographers, dancers, actors, performers, musicians, collectives, and more! Through our co-production series, artists are given the opportunity to utilize our intimate black-box performance space to showcase their work with a 50/50 box office split.

If you would like to work with our in-house lighting designer, Nathan Forster, please reach out to forstern@gmail.com. His rate is $35/hour to run the lights, assist in stage managing, and oversee space use. There is a minimum hire time of 2 hours, and any amount of time below that will be subject to the full 2 hours rate. At least a half hour must be allotted to the set up of the space and necessary show tech prior to start of show to allow time to review tech needs and troubleshoot requests. Any half hour of technician time will be subject to the hourly rate. Time for hire begins upon arrival of the contracted technician, or the start of the agreed work time (whichever comes second). Any agreement will be pending Nathan’s confirmation of availability for the requested dates. Invoicing for payment will be the responsibility of the technician to provide to the renter and mignolo.

If you would like to work with our in-house sound designer / photographer, Haven & Hazard, please reach out to havenandhazard@gmail.com. His rate is $50/hour and there is a minimum hire time of 2 hours with any amount of time below that subject to the full 2 hour rate.
